Maybe you don’t know if Bali has endemic bird. Bali Starling or the Bali Myna (Leucopsar rothschildi) is endemic bird from Bali and has medium size body (more less 25cm). The characteristic of Bali Starling are has white fur except the tip of wing and tail, has blue skin in the cheek and the feet are grey. Male and female are similar, don’t have difference. We can find them in West part of Bali.
Bali Starling was found by Walter Rothschild in 1910. Bali’s Government made this bird to be mascot in 1991 because it’s the only one endemic bird from Bali. This Bird was covered by legislation. Many bird collectors want to keep Bali Starling because it has beautiful fur and voice. The over catching and illegal logging made the population of this bird is almost rare. Many activities have been conducted, like make conservation or breeding program in zoo. We can discover at least 1000 bird in the forest.
